Finally released for rent and purchase on Vimeo On Demand – Where it Floods, a 46-minute featurette animation.
Blind stubbornness in the face of global catastrophe, and the victims thereof. Calvin, his wife Patty and their son, Kenny, try to maintain their farm and survive in a flooded mid-western landscape despite the fact that (mostly) everyone else seems to have moved on to somewhere safer.
Eight years in-the-making, Floods is a cutout animation with elements drawn on paper and animated digitally (After Effects).

I’ll be heading to Brussels to ANIMA 2018 to screen WHERE IT FLOODS and talk about the writing process!
The screening of Where it Floods will be followed by a one-hour conversation between Christophe Beaujean and the director Joel Benjamin, to dissect the writing process of this singular and fascinating film incursion into a deep and isolated rural America that probes into the depths of the human soul.
Where it Floods
Feature by Joel Benjamin, USA, 2017, 46’01’
followed by a discussion in English, without simultaneous translation.
Speakers: Joel Benjamin and Christophe Beaujean (moderator).

In June, FLOODS is screening in the Animafest 2017 Feature Film Grand Competition, in Zagreb! I’m SO excited about being in this fest. Including this film, there are 9 total feature films screening, including Red Turtle and Bill Plympton’s new feature!
